Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Dave Matthews – particularly the tracks from the Some Devil album. There’s a lot of great guitar work from both Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds on this album. A bunch of them follow no clear progression at all, which is great because Dave pulls it off well. I used to hate the Dave Matthews Band for some reason presently unknown to me – but I have to give him credit for breaking all the rules, and making some great music in the process.
The vast majority of the music on my laptop and on my ipod came from the CDs I owned, and ripped to mp3 format. Then there’s the directory or twleve that I have no clue how I came across. Bad Brains? No clue who that is. Black Flag? Know who they are, don’t know how I came to have an entire directory of them. Blaster the Rocker Man? Whiskey – Tango – Foxtrot. What am I doing about it you ask? Surely not deleting it, never know when you’ll need some wildly obscure tunes. I am doing the only logical thing, and bravely going where someone else obviously already went. That’s right, I’m on a mission to have exactly 0 never played tracks on my ipod.
A friend of mine from High School just posted a load of pictures from his recent trip to SE Asia – check them out here.
I remember when the Petronas Towers were the foundation, and a skeleton of the lower halves of the buildings. Really I haven’t thought much about my time in Malaysia since I left, but seeing a bunch of new pictures brought back a lot of old memories. Pearl Jam’s “Rearview Mirror” (Vs.) just came on my playlist, and brought back a few more. I must have listened to that song a thousand times in the Cameron Highlands. That’s all for now, I’ve got to head to work.
