125 days in, 3rd of July, a month and a day shy of my original ETS date. Pretty cool huh? A few things might have changed in the last 10 hours or so. I’ll keep people updated as I can. Cancelling things might be a little premature right now. Some folks may wish to turn frowns upside down, or at least straighten them out for a moment or three.
Spent most of my shift fighting off the Z-monster. Lately he’s been creeping around waiting for me to sit down. So far my most powerful weapons against his assaults have been coffee and Mountain Dew. Right now I’m doing fine without assistance, but I’m sure he’ll try to get me again later, probably right after I take in my laundry and eat breakfast.
Nothing exciting going on really. Apparently I slept through a fire-mission today, but that’s not news. Incoming stopped waking me up years ago unless it was close enough to knock my alarm clock off the wall. Outgoing doesn’t even register if I’m asleep. I guess it does freak some people out, just not me. Not noticing does kind of make me look like an idiot when I get to work and people ask “what were those explosions earlier?” My answer is usually “what? when?” Should the answer happen to be while I was asleep, “dunno, I didn’t hear anything” is about all I can say. Definitely gets me some odd looks.
I’m presently debt free, having nuked my loan the other day. Pending the outcome of efforts to unscrew my leave days, I’ll be ordering the rest of my photography equipment in the next few days. Clearly I want the gear at home by the time I’m back, but if I’m not going on leave, I can hold out and not buy anything until we redeploy and I get out of the Army.
